Principal's Message for 9/11/17

posted Sep 10, 2017, 12:10 PM by 311 Ees

Some announcements for the week of September 11:

First, please note a few things on our calendar this week:

- We will conduct our first lockdown drill one day this week. I will send a separate message to all families when it is complete. The message we share with students is that we believe Ephesus is a safe place. The adults always have plans for emergencies and we need to practice them t
hroughout the year.

- The School Improvement Team (SIT) will meet on Wednesday, September 13 from 5:30-7:00 PM in the media center. This group meets monthly to discuss school issues and policy. All meetings are open to the public and I encourage you to attend.

- We will have a delayed opening on Thursday, September 14. Students should arrive at school between 9:25 and 9:50 AM. We apologize that we are unable to provide adequate supervision prior to 9:25 and we appreciate your support of this valuable professional learning time for our staff.

- September 15 is International Dot Day. It is a celebration of creativity based on the book The Dot by Peter Reynolds. Students have worked on dot projects in art and we encourage them to wear dots on Friday.

Second, please be aware that we will have our first teacher workday on Thursday, September 21. Our After School Program will host childcare that is open to any student for a small fee. If you'd like more information, please contact Bruce Manning.

Third, if you're interested, this week's article is about children and sleep. Enjoy!

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. Please follow Ephesus Road Elementary on Facebook and @EphesusElem on Twitter. Please also check out our volunteer opportunities. I hope you have a great week!
